My First Sock! Etc!

Hi... just a little up date. I got my first sock done in record time. I think it was about 2 1/2 weeks or less. I have started the second one and am really enjoying myself knitting. The sock looks a little weird. I told my husband it looks like it belongs to Olive-Oil. But it fits great! The top stretches like it should and everything. I will have to say I am quite impressed with myself and humble too. =)

My neighbors came over Saturday to make some bracelets. They each made one and it was really nice to get to know them better. I enjoyed it!

Made a lot of new beads over the weekend that I will be listing on my Etsy site this week.

The first picture has two wooden beads that my husband made on his lathe. They are really pretty with the silver core. I added a bead to the set that is also silver cored and made of glass.

More later!

Hello! I participated in this event last year and had so much fun I decided I wanted to do it again. I think it is a cool idea and a neat way to see others blogs and make new friends. Go check out the site for all the details. My offering is pictured. It is a lampwork glass heart created by me with glass, silver foil and frit using an oxygen/propane torch.

Please leave a comment (with contact info) to participate in the drawing to be held February 12. Have a great day! Pam

(you need to have a current blog to participate, or contact information available)

If you can't wait and want one now. I have hearts for sale in my Etsy shop. I also do custom orders. Thanks!

Year End Clearance Sale and Everything Else

I just made a special section in my Etsy store with Year End Clearance items. There is a little bit of everything in there. Bead sets, pandora beads, focals, etc. Just stuff that needs to get cleared out to make way for all my new creations.
I just ordered a few pounds of glass and am anxious to try out new things. I got some more of the Double Helix glass to play with. It is so much fun when it works right and turns the colors that you want it to.
Just trying to get ready for Christmas as is everyone. Got all the cookies made. I did the decorated sugar cookies with my granddaughter and then just made a few regular kinds. I made peanut butter - it seems like years since I had a peanut butter cookie - Yum! I made snickerdoodles when what I really was thinking I was making was russian tea cakes. I don't know how I got those mixed up. I also made a batch of shortbread. It is really good too. Sent a dish of goodies to both of my neighbors and brought a plate to work. Came in last night and it was GONE!!! Sheesh. I am glad they liked them.
Need to finish getting the presents wrapped this weekend. Also haven't got my Christmas cards done....ARRGH.. Not my favorite thing to do.
I have been working on trying to improve my photos for my shop on 1000Markets. I have a few more things I need to list there just need time to get the pics taken etc.
My husband Dale does woodturning and the other night as I was just about asleep I had a thought - wooden beads - So the next day I asked him if he thought he could make a few. All I can say is WOW! Those are the pics I need to get done and list. He made two beads out of Olive wood with brass tubing in the center that I hammered over and made pretty. Then I made some brass lined beads to match. These aren't your grandma's macrame beads by any means. I can't wait for you to see them... Soon I promise.
Well I think that is all for now. I am at work and better get busy with the work, what little there is at 2 in the morning. Ta

Sterling Silver Cored Pandora Beads - Tools and Equipment

I thought yesterday that I would take a couple of pictures of the tools and equipment that I use to line my beads with sterling silver. A couple of months ago I read a tutorial on Lampwork Etc. about how to line your beads and made a list out for my sweetie to shop from. It was like a scavenger hunt and he did a really great job in finding all the things that I needed. It would have driven me crazy to try to find them. He drove all over the valley and had to go to several stores but when I woke up he had it all for me. Great man that I married. Then a couple of weeks ago we went to the local Harbor Freight and got my little saw. It is just awesome. I was cutting the tube with a pipe cutter and it was hard for me to hold on to it and turn it. The saw is just zip zip and you are good to go. I love it!

I need to ask my sweetie what the names of all of these items are but a few of them I do know. The digital calipers were well worth the money. They make measuring the bead so easy. Then add about 4mm extra before cutting. The little things in the bag are brownies and greenies... now you know why I sent Dale. He actually found them. They go in my dremel to polish the silver when I am done. There are three ?grades? to gently do the job. The stuff in the box is also a silver polish, I don't use that all the time. The little short hammer (real technical huh) is for the beating on the tools in the next picture (dapping or doming? tools). This gradually increases the diameter of the silver tube and helps to lay it over so you can flatten it with the longer hammer to the right (chasing hammer?). The chasing hammer does the fine beating of the silver. Can you tell I like to beat on things... :0) It really is a lot of fun. The metal block in the center of the picture is where I beat on the bead, and yes that is a dishtowel on my kitchen table and yes that little saw is sitting on my kitchen counter. Me thinks I need another room for metal working. Sweetie???? How about it????
So here are some pictures.

And here is the terrific man that lets me do all these wonderful things and is soooo supportive of all my sometimes crazy ideas. Isn't he adorable?

And here is what all of this "stuff" helps me to create. You can find this and many more in my Etsy shop. http://www.mycabincreations.etsy.com/

Sterling Silver Lined Pandora Bead

Here is a variation of the bead that I used on the bookmark in the next post. It is the same flower design just in a different shape. The first one I made I have hanging on a silver chain around my neck. Man is it pretty (humble aren't I). :) The bead is lined with sterling silver and will fit on the pandora bracelet or necklace. It has a 5mm hole so I think it will fit most of the Euro bead systems. I have 3 more of these at home that I need to get cored so do check back often. I think this is going to be one of my favorite designs to make. Altho that does change weekly it seems, so get them while you can. :) Pam

Pandora Bracelet

Here is my pandora bracelet. I recently bought some more silver spacers from www.susansheehan.net, she was having a wonderful sale and I got some great bargains. So when they got here I gathered up all the pandora beads that I had laying on my table that I haven't listed yet and said "MINE" and put them on my bracelet. I have worn it the last couple days and "I LIKE". So if you need some beads of your own, go see Susan and don't forget I make them too. :)

Miniature Garden in Bloom - A Collaboration Project

Here is another collaboration project between two glass artists, myself and Kristy Kempinger. We are both members of the Etsy Glass Artists Street Team (EGA) www.etsyglass.com and the Lampwork Etc Street Team (LEST) www.webjam.com/lest

This miniature garden in bloom dangles unerringly from a burnished sterling silver bail. Kristy Kempinger of www.chickadeebeads.etsy.com created this gorgeous focal by decorating a transparent pearly base with subtle and delicate blue florals. The accent beads of pale transparent blue and green that I created and the various shades of pink pearls highlight the artistry of the focal without overpowering it. The focal measures approx 30mm with the overall necklace being 23 inches in length.

Happy 4th of July!

Just wanted to say Happy Independence Day to everyone and show you a few pictures. I took these the other day in my yard. My lavender is really pretty right now, and I have a ton of it. The bees love it. Have a great day tomorrow! Hi MOM!
