Carnival Miracle Cruise, Beads, Family and Flowers

I haven't been very good about posting pictures this year at all. We have had a good year. Went on a Carnival cruise in March to the Southern Caribbean. What a beautiful place. I want to definitely go there again. We went to Grand Turk, La Romana, Aruba and Curacao. Wow! Snorkeled off a Catamaran in Aruba and the beaches were awesome. The ship was great as well. Spent time with friends and relaxed! Next cruise is on the Carnival Magic - can't wait for that but I guess I have to. Sad.
Anyway. Haven't done a whole lot in the lampworking area this year. I have been knitting a lot and actually making things for me. I am knitting my first sweater as we speak. It will be interesting to see if it turns out. I have been knitting lace scarves and shawls etc. Love it! Oh and as you can see mittens. Those were fun. We spend a lot of time on the weekends doing yard work. Ugh! The irises were really pretty this year. These are specially grown by Cory - a friend of ours. They are waaaayyyyyyyy prettier than what you get at the store. I have more pics I need to send to him as well. Never enough time. So that is all for now.... Have a great June!

New Beads and Lots of Knitting Projects

Wow it has been a long time since I posted here. Lots of things going on. I have been trying to do some projects more for me lately than to sell so will show you some of those. I caught the knitting bug and also the tangling bug. I need to take a few pictures of my tangles that I have drawn but will probably do that later. Went on a cruise since I was here last as well and had Christmas too. Wow. I really need to keep up with all of this. So on to the pictures. :)

It has been a busy summer. We did the usual yard work and running around the valley that we do every weekend. We also went back to Illinois and put a roof on one of our houses and visited with family etc. I am soooo ready for a vacation. We will be going in the not so distant future on our next cruise. The Carnival Dream! I can't wait. I have tried to make beads and list them but lately my work schedule is a pain in the rear.. I work days and nights both and it just messes me up enough that I have become pretty lazy. I still make the beads but listing them is sometimes just too much work. I have been knitting a lot lately. Making bags and mittens and cowls etc. The bags that I make have beads on them so round and round I go. I guess today will be a good day to try and make the beads for the bags that I need to get finished for Christmas. I have jury duty this week so that should be interesting if I get called at all. I have to call every day after 5 to see if I go in for the next day and if not then I have to go to work. I restarted my shop on Artfire so go check out what I have on there. Some of it will be the same stuff on Etsy. I just want to see if it will sell better in another place. I canceled my 1000Markets shop. They sold out to something called Bonanza that looked like yard sale crap so I didn't want to go there so I am listing that stuff - jewelry mostly- on Etsy as well. I will close with a few pictures..... :)

Like I need a new addiction. I call it my new CRACK! LOL Not really but it is something new that I am enjoying and can be as expensive as drugs (I imagine). So I decided to go to a local yarn shop yesterday - Blazing Needles in Salt Lake - (Cool place with friendly people btw) - something that I have been avoiding because I KNOW I will buy something and guess what I DID!!!! Go figure. I think someday I want to have a yarn/bead shop so I can indulge in my favorite activities full time. Any one want to buy me that? I would be forever grateful! :)

So here is the "crack" that I bought to satisfy my addiction. I probably shouldn't call it that ;) it is just BEAUTIFUL YARN. Can't wait to try the Sushi Wallet.

These two pictures are what I have been making with my new WOOL! It is such fun. This is my sisters birthday present. She got it today and originally wondered why I made her such a BIG hat. LOL.... She likes it. Oh and just cause I can since this is my blog (bragging) I made the beads too. :)

This is a watch band that I made for a coworker. It turned out really pretty I think. These are interchangeable so you can buy the watch face once and change out the bands to suit your mood or wardrobe or whatever. I will probably be making and selling more of these soon!!!!!

Hand Knit Bucket Bag

I am sooooo EXCITED about my new project. I recently finished this bag that I had knit and felted and THEN I added handmade "BLING" to it. The beads are handmade lampwork flower beads that I made as well. I am on my THIRD bag now and just LOVE to knit them. Can you tell I am excited about this. :) These are pictures of the first bag before felting and after and then a second similar bag that is a gift. My third one is a little different and almost done. :)
I wanted to add a couple pictures of my adorable granddaughter here as well. :)

Catching up - Lots of new stuff!

Wow... I have had a hard time keeping up with my blog lately. I have been working more in the day so not as much time for extra things lately. We have a new grandson - Derek Johnathon - he is so cute and itty bitty. There are a few pictures here of him.
I have been on a crocheting and knitting kick lately. Have made a bunch of baby hats that I will be listing. They are so much fun to make and quick. I like quick!!! Lots of new beads too. :) Have a great day! Pam
This is a Bumbles band for a watch. I made it for a friend who already has the watch face so she will just hook the band to it with the lobster clasps. They are a big Utah thing. I think they are kinda cool. Might have to make a few more. :)

I knit the hat and cocoon for Derek. We will probably use it to get his picture made in a month or so. Another popular item selling lately. If you want one just let me know.

I got a new bead press from cgbeads. It is a disc shape. I think they are kinda pretty. Haven't had much time to play with it yet tho. :(

Custom Made Bead Sets on Etsy

Hi... I spent a good portion of my weekend working on a custom order for an etsy customer and wanted to share them with you. Would I do it again? Well I would for the fact that I learned a lot about pink and orange glass and how it looks together and I worked on my flowers which I really like to do. I wouldn't do it for as cheap as I did tho. :) So if you want a custom set of flower beads I will be charging just "a little bit" more for them. :) Here are the pictures and let me know if you want some of your own.

My hubby is employee of the month where he works and I am soooo proud of him. Here is what they had to say-

One example of this is his willingness to float and adapt to any department that he is needed. He is efficient and learns quickly, and gives it 100% effort. Dr. Stolman had the following to say about Dale's talents and abilities:
Dale is a model M.A. and I would recommend that any given student M.A. be assigned to follow him for a week. He is a quick study and picks up new office proceedings with lightning speed, which I am sure is a reflection of his sharp intellect. He is also upbeat, and ready to laugh and help our patients to laugh. Dale is reliable to get office chores accomplished on time and will always surprise you with some more efficient way to run things. He has an excellent sense of professionalism. Knit and Crochet

I have been having a lot of fun lately knitting and crocheting bath items. It is something I do while watching tv etc. I have crocheted all my life and recently re-started knitting. I was doing a lot of socks and decided I needed to branch out into different things. I am getting too many socks! LOL but is that even possible? So here are some pictures of what I have made. The "cotton balls" are really nice to have. I use them all the time and they wear really well and wash up great. The wash cloths are terrific in the kitchen or the bath. They would also be good for babies. The bath puffs are just fun to make - so there you go. Have a great day! Pam

Woohoo! Last weekend I got really serious about learning how to encase beads. I made several encased florals and can't believe that it finally clicked and I GET IT! Yeah! I bought a terrific tutorial from Kandice Seeber of coloraddiction that was a wonderful help. She makes the most beautiful beads. I hope one day to be as talented. :) So anyway... here is one of my beads. This weekend I am going to work on taking better photos. They all seem darker and less clear lately. We shall see how that goes. Have a great weekend.

Cruise to Alaska - Westerdam - August 2009

I am finally getting around to posting a few pictures from our cruise to Alaska. We went on Holland America's "Westerdam". It was a great trip with a lot of pretty scenery. The ship left Seattle and went through Glacier Bay which was unbelievably pretty then on to Juneau, Sitka, Ketchikan and Victoria. We went on a whale watching excursion in Juneau that was really great. We booked it through the cruise line and it was kind of pricey but I think well worth the money. We first went to the Mendenhall Glacier by bus then on the boat for the whale watching and then to a cabin on an island and had a terrific salmon bake. It was just a great day.
In Sitka we walked around the little town, went to a really pretty little church and walked through some of the rainforest looking at the totem poles. It was a pretty little place. Somewhere I would like to visit again. There were warnings in the woods about bead sightings which was a little scary.
In Ketchikan we got off the boat and were just going to walk around town but it was raining and cold and windy so we got on a bus excursion that took us around and then to a totem pole park. We saw salmon swimming up stream and a place called "Dolly's House" that used to be a pretty popular stop for the men in town. It ended up being a nice day and quit raining.
We went to Butchart Gardens in Victoria and it was really pretty altho we saw it after dark. We also didn't have much time there. I got a few good pictures of flowers that were under the lights.
Saw some of Seattle the day before and the day after our cruise. It is an ok place. We rode around on the bus and train system and walked alot. I don't think I would want to necesarily go back. I did really want to buy some of the flowers in the market but didn't. They were sooooo pretty and SOOOOO cheap. I should have done that. Oh well.
Overall it was a good time. It was great to spend time with my hubby and my mom. I think we will go to the Caribbean or Mexico on Carnival next tho...

I have new stuff in all of my shops. I am selling new interchangeable earrings. They are sterling silver hoop earrings that have bali beads then you can buy the beads separately that would match your wardrobe. The cool thing is that you can buy pandora style beads and wear them on your bracelet as well as on your earrings. You can also put small hole beads on the earrings. I have those for sale too. I wore my earrings to work all last week and got numerous compliments on them. So go check out my shops for the info. My Etsy store has the most, Artfire next and there are a couple of pairs of already made ones in my 1000 Markets shop. Here are some examples. If you have any questions just let me know. :)

I had time to make a few new pandora style beads pairs over the weekend and here are pictures. I will be listing them in my Etsy shop today and tomorrow. I am also working on a new earring design that I am really liking. It will be an interchangeable hoop earring - so you can put whatever beads that you like on it. I will sell the earrings and the makings for the earrings. Hopefully I can get a set or two listed today. I will be listing them in my 1000 Markets shop as well, since that is for finished pieces. Then you can come to my Etsy and Artfire shops and get the beads to swap out. It should be cool. I have a pair on right now and am loving them. They are comfortable and light weight and PRETTY! So stay tuned ;)

Oh and I made a special order Turtle Pandora Bead that I just LOVE! I will be making more of those too I hope. If you would like one just let me know.

Block of the Month Quilt

I signed up for a block of the month club through "The Buggy Barn". So once a month I get a new block to complete and after 1 year I will have a complete quilt. I have always wanted to do this and saw this pretty quilt so decided to give it a try. It is a lot of fun to get them in the mail and easier for me because I am not so good at picking out the material. I have the second block sew together and now just need to embroider it. I will post them here when I get them done . :)

As anyone who knows my husband and I would know this was bound to happen eventually. We have created a collaboration of our talents. My husband does fabulous woodturning and so one day I said to him that he should try and make a bead. So he did and we lined it and I made some complementary glass lined beads and this is the end result. We hope to make many more in the future.
The wooden beads are created out of paduche which is a wonderful natural red color. They are lined in sterling silver. The glass bead is created by the process of lampworking and is a complimentary animal spot print on black and also lined in sterling silver.
The wooden beads measure approx. 10mm by 19mm. The glass bead measures approx 9mm x 17mm. The beads are designed to be worn on any of the euro bead systems. They could also be strung onto a leather cord, ribbon or even a chain.
Bracelet is for photograph and comparison only. It is not included in the sale.
The glass beads have been properly kiln annealed for lasting durability and are each properly cleaned and inspected.

My First Sock! Etc!

Hi... just a little up date. I got my first sock done in record time. I think it was about 2 1/2 weeks or less. I have started the second one and am really enjoying myself knitting. The sock looks a little weird. I told my husband it looks like it belongs to Olive-Oil. But it fits great! The top stretches like it should and everything. I will have to say I am quite impressed with myself and humble too. =)

My neighbors came over Saturday to make some bracelets. They each made one and it was really nice to get to know them better. I enjoyed it!

Made a lot of new beads over the weekend that I will be listing on my Etsy site this week.

The first picture has two wooden beads that my husband made on his lathe. They are really pretty with the silver core. I added a bead to the set that is also silver cored and made of glass.

Aquarium and Fishies and Pie

My husband and I took our granddaughter to the local aquarium last Saturday and I got some inspiration for making a few fishies as a bonus. They are listed in my Etsy shop for purchase.
I am also learning how to knit and thought I would keep a little photo diary of my progress on here. I knitted a scarf in the 6th grade and that is the last time I did it. So it is fun to try again. I made a hat on round needles and now I am working on a pair of socks. Ambitious I know! A friend of mine sent me some much needed instructions and offered help should I need it. She also said that I should have no problem. I'm not sure she heard me when I said I just started. =)
So here is the first sock and I am getting a little nervous because I have only about one more inch before I have to do the heel. Wish me luck!
Cami (granddaughter) and I made a couple of cherry pies after the trip to the aquarium. Handing down my grandma's recipe (altho she is a little young yet). She had a lot of fun making cut outs for the top as you can see.

Hi all! Happy New Year! It is going to be a terrific year I just know it. I have lots of plans and goals that I will be working on this year and business expansion (hopefully) if I can get it all done.

Had a great Christmas with my family here and in Illinois. I don't get to go home often enough and sure wish that it wasn't so far away. I live in Utah and it is a two day drive to Illinois with my husband, our 80 lb springer spaniel Tuck (who insists on sitting on the passengers lap in the front seat the whole way), and our new kitty (who was a real trooper and rode in the backseat).

They are a lot of fun though, and kitty is getting friendlier every day and letting us pet him more and pick him up. His real name is Hissy if that tells you anything.

Had our alternator go out on our car about 50 miles from our destination in Illinois. What a pain in the butt. Mom had to come and bring us a battery so we could make it home.

We had a thunderstorm one night when we were there. We had lots of thunder and lightening and rain which melted all the ice. Strange weather. But I miss the thunderstorms. Tuck doesn't like them at all.

So now I am back to work and trying to get stuff done since we were gone. Our Christmas tree is still up. Hopefully this weekend we will put it away.

I haven't made any beads since before Christmas but I have a few that I haven't taken pictures of or listed yet. Maybe I will get to that in the morning. Check back to see.

My husband made some really cool wooden pandora beads that I need to list. I lined them in copper and they are really neat and original. I will try to get the picture of them up here as well.

Year End Clearance Sale and Everything Else

I just made a special section in my Etsy store with Year End Clearance items. There is a little bit of everything in there. Bead sets, pandora beads, focals, etc. Just stuff that needs to get cleared out to make way for all my new creations.
I just ordered a few pounds of glass and am anxious to try out new things. I got some more of the Double Helix glass to play with. It is so much fun when it works right and turns the colors that you want it to.
Just trying to get ready for Christmas as is everyone. Got all the cookies made. I did the decorated sugar cookies with my granddaughter and then just made a few regular kinds. I made peanut butter - it seems like years since I had a peanut butter cookie - Yum! I made snickerdoodles when what I really was thinking I was making was russian tea cakes. I don't know how I got those mixed up. I also made a batch of shortbread. It is really good too. Sent a dish of goodies to both of my neighbors and brought a plate to work. Came in last night and it was GONE!!! Sheesh. I am glad they liked them.
Need to finish getting the presents wrapped this weekend. Also haven't got my Christmas cards done....ARRGH.. Not my favorite thing to do.
I have been working on trying to improve my photos for my shop on 1000Markets. I have a few more things I need to list there just need time to get the pics taken etc.
My husband Dale does woodturning and the other night as I was just about asleep I had a thought - wooden beads - So the next day I asked him if he thought he could make a few. All I can say is WOW! Those are the pics I need to get done and list. He made two beads out of Olive wood with brass tubing in the center that I hammered over and made pretty. Then I made some brass lined beads to match. These aren't your grandma's macrame beads by any means. I can't wait for you to see them... Soon I promise.
Well I think that is all for now. I am at work and better get busy with the work, what little there is at 2 in the morning. Ta

New Shop, Christmas Cookies, and my First Anniversary

I have been pretty busy lately with trying to branch out and sell my lampworking in other areas. It is a small step but it is still a lot of work. I have 3 new shops that I want to share with you. The first one I just got approved for today. You have to set up shop and list your items and then submit it to the head honchos for approval. I really like the looks of their site and think that with a little time it will be productive. This particular site I have to sell the end product and not just the beads, so I have listed pandora beads and will add a leather cord for those that don't own a pandora bracelet so they can wear them as a necklace. I have a pandora bracelet that I mostly use for the pics and I wear 2 or 3 of my beads on a silver chain. Maybe I will start making more jewelry to sell and list it there. We will see. Thanksgiving and New Pandora Beads

Hope everyone had a terrific Thanksgiving. I sure did. My husband and I cooked a meal for 10 people on Sunday. It was quite a bit of work, but we had a ton of terrific food and all the kids and grandkids were there. They ate so much that no one wanted pie before they left. I did get some chocolate pie sent out the door, but that still leaves me with two pumpkin pies and 1/2 of the chocolate. Hmmmm maybe that isn't such a bad deal after all. It is pretty dang good. I will have to put some recipes up here of all the goodies.

I did get to make quite a few beads over the weekend as well. I hadn't made any in a few weeks since we had been on vacation so I got over my withdrawals this weekend. I am slowly but surely getting them listed on Etsy.

Mexican Riviera

Hi.. my husband and I recently got back from a wonderful cruise to the Mexican Riviera. We went on the Carnival Spirit and stopped at Acapulco, Zihuantenejo, and Manzanillo. We also had four days at sea. I wish I was still on the ship. Dang. Although I would have to have my torch along if I stayed for very long.
The couple that we sat with at dinner asked me what I liked to do in my spare time and I couldn't come up with anything except yard work?! Lampworking just did not come to mind. That is how relaxed and far from daily living as you can get. I thought about it later and was really surprised. It's like "oh yeah, I make beads" sheesh. I really missed my babies tho. Tuck (dog) and Hisssy (you guessed it - cat). They missed us too. We took the cat to a Petsmart hotel and he went in kinda distant and not real friendly, hence the name (He is a kitty and we haven't had him long.) But he came out all lovey and nice and I am wondering it I got the right cat! LOL
Anyway, we met a ton of really nice people on our cruise and had a terrific time so I wanted to put a few pictures here and a couple links to more.

Pandora Beads

I made a whole slew of new pandora style beads this last weekend. I just love making them with the flowers on them and then lining them with the sterling silver. I thought about just putting them all on my pandora bracelet, but decided I should "Share them with the World" LOL. So here are a few of them. Most of them are in my Etsy store but I do have a couple on my web site and also a couple in my shop on Handmade Fusion. So go check them out as well. Psyche!

I made a few beads as a special order last weekend and here they are. I can make some for you as well if you want them. These are made with a glass called psyche. When it is done right they have a metallic sheen to them. You also get a variety of colors, greens blues etc. I got a little of the metallic but mostly the greens. One of the beads I made came out with all the dots metallic, I kept that one and am wondering how exactly I got it to work. I did try to recreate it to no avail. Oh well, I guess I will just keep practicing. :)
